摘要： A low-mass pointer element for a pressure measuring mechanism is made from a lightweight plastic paper material and includes a center hub having a through aperture which is sized to accommodate a rotatable shaft end of the pressure measuring mechanism. An indicating end of the pointer element is sloped downwardly toward a dial face relative to the center hub to prevent parallax along with a counterbalancing portion. The indicating end is inwardly tapered to a flattened distal end to provide equivalent stiffness, but with considerably less mass so as to significantly reduce stress loads on a corresponding movement mechanism.

摘要： A pressure sensing device includes a housing having an interior sized for containing a flexible diaphragm, the deflection of which causes subsequent movement of a movement mechanism relative to an indicating dial face. The diaphragm is nonfixedly attached to the bottom side of a support plate disposed within the housing interior, in which the plate includes a center opening sized to support the movement mechanism and position an input member of the movement mechanism adjacently to the flexible diaphragm. A pressure chamber is established between the bottom of the housing and the diaphragm such that air or other fluid entering the chamber causes deflection of the diaphragm and subsequent movement of the input member. Preferably, the diaphragm is retained within a slot formed in the housing and clamped into contact with a flexible gasket and the bottom surface of the support plate.

A support plate is disposed within the housing cavity along with a flexible diaphragm which is sealingly mounted to a bottom facing side of the support plate. A movement mechanism interconnected to the diaphragm includes a pressure sensitive element which is responsive to the impingement of incoming fluid on the sealed diaphragm. The movement mechanism is disposed within a narrow extending portion of the housing to assume a compact and shallow profile which facilitates direct attachment to existing devices, such as blood pressure sleeves. In a preferred version, the movement mechanism is disposed within a cavity defined by the diaphragm.

This coupling permits direct attachment to the sleeve and permitting fluid interconnection between the interior of the sleeve and the contained pressure gauge without requiring any hoses or tubing therebetween. The electronic pressure gauge is responsive to changes in pressure within the inflatable sleeve. The pressure changes can be processed and output to an integral display or can be wirelessly transmitted.
