摘要： In a microprismatic shaving element for abrasively removing hair, a substrate defines a plurality contiguous raised portions projecting outwardly therefrom. Each of the raised portions defines at least one hair engaging surface and is located on the substrate in an array that defines an abrasive surface. During a shaving operation as the abrasive surface is drawn over the skin of the user, each of the raised portions successively abrades hair extending from extending from said user's skin leaving the ends of the hair frayed after completion of the shaving operation thereby achieving the feel of a smooth shave.

Each of the microspheres defines an interior area containing shaving aid that may be applied to a user's skin surface. During a shaving operation, at least a portion of the microspheres degrade to release the shaving aids from the interior area onto the skin surface. Multiple shaving aid layers containing binder material and microspheres may be laminated together, and may further include additional film or barrier layers separating the shaving aid layers.

At least one razor blade is positioned within the housing and has an at least partially exposed cutting edge. The supply of shaving aid film is positioned in the cavity and is used to transfer shaving aid to a user's skin during a shaving operation. An applicator is coupled to the housing adjacent the cutting edge of the razor blade. shaving aid film is drawn over the applicator in response to the razor cartridge being moved over, and in contact with, a user's skin during a shaving operation. The shaving aid film deposits at least a portion of the shaving aid provided onto the user's skin.

The shaving strip is oriented to engage the skin of a user during a shaving stroke and the actuator electrically couples to the piezoelectric ceramic such that, upon activation, the actuator causes deformation of the piezoelectric ceramic which, in turn, deforms the resilient reservoir and forces the shaving aid from the reservoir through the ejection port. Alternatively, the actuator may include a shape memory alloy which, upon transformation between states, deforms the reservoir and forces the shaving aid from the reservoir through the ejection port.

A shaving implement having a handle and a razor cartridge attached thereto has the shaving aid delivery system attached to the razor cartridge.

摘要： A wet shave razor assembly includes a shaving aid delivery system surrounding a razor cartridge. The shaving aid delivery system includes a hydrophilic foam having a water soluble shaving preparation disposed therein. During a wet shave operation, the hydrophilic foam is compressed as the razor is stroked across a user's skin. The hydrophilic foam is an open-cell structure defined by a plurality of supporting elements that cooperate to form tortuous paths. The hydrophilic foam can also include closed cells, or it can be a combination of open cells and closed cells. The shaving preparation is disposed in the paths and/or closed cells. A combination razor cartridge/shaving aid delivery system assembly can be releasably attached to a handle. The razor cartridge may be movable relative to the hydrophilic foam and include a mechanism allowing such movement housed in the handle, or it can be fixed relative to the hydrophilic foam.
