    • A magnetic switch apparatus (10) detects relative movement between first (12) and second (14) members and defeats attempted external magnetic manipulation of the apparatus. A rod-shaped, first switch element (20) is positioned transverse to and centrally aligned with a convex, second switch element (22) and spaced therefrom. A ring-shaped first magnet (26) is positioned about the first switch element (20) and spaced from the second element (22) in order to pull a ferromagnetic body (24) into a switch-open position out of contact with the second switch element (22) with these components mounted to the first member (12). A second magnet (18) mounted to the second member (14) is positioned and magnetically sufficient to pull the body (24) into a switch-closed position in contact with both of the switch elements (20, 22) when the members (12, 14) are in an adjacent position.

    • An anti-tamper assembly is provided in order to sense the attempted removal of a body attached to a surface by a fastener. The assembly includes an anti-tamper access-blocking element positioned in an anti-tamper position proximal to the fastener, along with an anti-tamper switch operably coupled with the element in order to bias the switch to one switch condition. In the event that the element is moved from its anti-tamper position, the switch moves to another switch condition, which generates an alarm signal. The assembly may be used to protect an alarm section forming a part of an alarm assembly. The section includes a sensor or switch operable to detect relative movement between first and second members such as a door and doorframe. A mechanically actuatable switch having an actuating arm may be used where the arm engages access-blocking element.

    • An improved, low-cost magnetic switch assembly (16, 16a) is provided having an easily fabricated housing (24, 24a) and cover (29, 29a) formed of non-conducting synthetic resin material. A pair of electrically conductive switch elements (30, 32, 30a, 32a) are positioned in spaced relationship with the housing (24, 24a) along with a body (40, 40a) shiftable between a first position in simultaneous contact with the switch elements (30, 32, 30a, 32a), and a second position out of such simultaneous contact. The housing (24, 24a) is also equipped with a first attractive component (38, 38a) which magnetically reacts with the body (40, 40a) to hold the latter in one of the positions thereof when the assembly (16, 16a) experiences a first magnetic field condition, but allows the body (40, 40a) to move to the other of the positions thereof when a second magnetic field condition is experienced adjacent the assembly (16, 16a).
