摘要： Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate grouping pilot identifies to indicate type and/or classification information regarding one or more access points. The access points can select or be assigned pilot identifiers from the group indicating a type or classification related to the access points. Thus, identifiers can be grouped into macrocell and/or femtocell groups or ranges such that an access point can indicate, and mobile devices can efficiently determine, whether the access point provides macrocell or femtocell coverage based on a range from which its pilot identifier is selected or assigned. In addition, the pilot identifiers can be utilized to indicate restricted association information regarding the access points.

A plurality of superframe indices are determined, and a QuickChannelInfo block is transmitted to an access terminal in the superframe with an odd superframe index. The contents of the QuickChannelInfo block are changed in accordance with a QuickChannelInfo Validity field of the QuickChannelInfo block. It is determined if a multi-carrier mode of a protocol is MultiCarrierOn. The QuickChannelInfo block is transmitted on each carrier of the protocol. The QuickChannelInfo block is transmitted to the access terminal over a communication link. The QuickChannelInfo block is processed after the QuickChannelInfo block is received at the access terminal over the communication link.

摘要： Softer handoff groups are provided utilizing fractional frequency reuse set, which can be managed by a single master sector that is part of the group. The group can based on handoff rules that can include a group indication by an access point or a group request by an access terminal. A terminal is provided functionality to select a softer handoff group, which can be indicated by an active set update. An access point can discontinue serving terminals by groups by reducing an active set size to one. Diversity can be provided such that if a transmission from one sector fades, the other sector can provide the transmission, mitigating loss of data. Thus, robustness against inadequate channel conditions can be obtained.

摘要： Systems and methodologies are described that provide techniques for managing persistent resource assignments in a wireless communication system. An access point can generate a bitmap by mapping access terminals having persistent assignments for traffic channels to a series of bitmap bits that provide keep-alive indications for the access terminals. The bitmap can then be provided as a common keep-alive message in a broadcast or multicast transmission to the access terminals. The keep-alive message can further include CRC bits for error prevention. An access terminal, upon receiving the keep-alive message, can then determine whether a bitmap bit in the keep-alive message corresponding to the access terminal conveys a keep-alive indication for the terminal and utilize its persistently assigned traffic channels accordingly.
