    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for replacing a railway viaduct column, which enables a space under a viaduct to be widened concurrently with the replacement of the railway viaduct column.SOLUTION: In a construction method for replacing a railway viaduct column, an existing railway viaduct column 1 is removed except for the vicinity of a base of the existing railway viaduct column 1; protective caps 4 and 4' are installed on the remaining existing railway viaduct column 1; drilled holes 5 and 5' are formed in respective opposed lateral surfaces between the existing railway viaduct columns 1; axial reinforcements 6 and 6' are inserted into locations of the drilled holes 5 and 5', respectively; the locations of the drilled holes 5 and 5' are filled with pieces 7 and 7' of mortar; leading ends 6A and 6A' of the axial reinforcements 6 and 6' are connected together by a joint 8; the axial reinforcements 6 and 6' are wound with a hoop tie 9; and concrete 10 is placed on the axial reinforcements 6 and 6' wound with the hoop tie 9, and thus, the existing railway viaduct column 1 is replaced by a new railway viaduct column.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for replacing a damaged railway viaduct column, which enables a space under a viaduct to be widened concurrently with the replacement of the railway viaduct column damaged by an earthquake disaster and the like.SOLUTION: In a construction method for replacing a damaged railway viaduct column, concrete in plastic hinge sections 2 and 2' of a damaged existing railway viaduct column 1 is chipped; buckled axial reinforcements 3 and 3' are exposed; the existing railway viaduct column 1 is removed except for buckled axial reinforcements 5 and 5'; treatment of restoration from a buckled state is applied to the buckled axial reinforcements 5 and 5'; joints 7 and 7' make a new axial reinforcement 6 connected to the axial reinforcements undergone the treatment of restoration from the buckled state; protective caps 8 and 8' for the plastic hinge sections are installed; the new axial reinforcement 6 is wound with a hoop tie 9; and concrete 10 is placed on the axial reinforcement 6 wound with the hoop tie 9, and thus, the damaged existing railway viaduct column is replaced by the new railway viaduct column.
