摘要： The present invention allows a media terminal to initiate or receive a first communication session, and a control terminal to control the first communication session. The media and control terminals are generally proximate to or otherwise associated with each other. The control terminal may provide additional services associated with the communication session or for the media terminal. In addition to providing control and supporting additional services, the control terminal may support communication sessions associated with the first communication session involving the media terminal. A service node is provided to communicate with the media and control terminals to allow the control terminal to control the first communication session.

摘要： A system and method for tracing calls, such as those terminating in a wireless telephone system, is disclosed. The system is part of a communication network that uses a switch connected to a caller. The switch extracts information about the caller such as a calling party number and other information useful for tracing the call. Once the information has been extracted, the switch sends the information to a storage device associated with the called party, such as a home location register. The storage device creates a log of the call, storing all the extracted information. When the call is to be traced, a device capable of accessing the storage device can easily retrieve the stored information and thereby identify and locate the caller.

摘要： A technique for automatically reconnecting a mobile unit to an emergency operator when the connection therebetween is interrupted is described. In a preferred embodiment, when such a call is dropped, a mobile switching center (“MSC”) though which the call is connected detects that the call has been dropped and, after determining that the call is an emergency call, based on the number originally dialed by the mobile unit, automatically reestablishes the connection with the mobile unit, thereby reestablishing the emergency call.
