    • A molten metal detection sensor provided with hermetically sealing means for sealing an internal space of the sensor. The molten metal detection sensor includes a hollow holder (3) assembled in a metal mold, an electrode rod (1) extending through the holder (3) and an insulator (2) interposed between the electrode rod (1) and the holder (3) at one end portion of the holder (3) confronting a molten metal path. A rear open end of the holder (3) is attached with a lid member (15) for hermetically confining an internal space of the holder (3), and a filling material is filled in the internal space. One end portion of a lead wire (9) is connected to the electrode rod (1) for transmitting a molten metal detection signal to an external device. The lead wire extends through a wall of the holder (3) at a penetrating portion (14) where a tubular member (17a) is provided to surround the lead wire (9). The tubular member (17a) is engageable with the wall of the holder (3), and a top end of the tubular member is sealed by a sealing means (18).

    • A metal mold cooling device capable of employing a cooling pipe (5) having a small diameter insertable into a cooling hole (4) having a small diameter, and capable of performing fine supply control of a cooling liquid to the metal mold (1,2) for fine temperature control thereto. A cooling pipe is connected to a compressed air source (19) through a pipe and a first change-over valve (8). Further, the pipe is connected to a branch pipe to which a second change-over valve (9) is connected. A hermetic cooling liquid tank (15) connected to a water source is connected to the second change-over valve (9). A third change-over valve (10) is provided between the compressed air source (19) and the cooling liquid tank (15) so as to apply pneumatic pressure onto a surface of the cooling liquid in the cooling liquid tank (15). Since the cooling liquid tank (15) is provided in addition to the water source, pneumatic pressure from the compressed air source (19) can be utilized. The cooling liquid in the cooling liquid tank is compressed and is supplied to the cooling pipe. Therefore, spraying is achievable even by a cooling pipe (5) having a small diameter. Further, supply of the cooling liquid can be finely controlled by controlling valve opening timing of each of the change-over valves.

    • An automatic molten metal supplying device and supplying method capable of promoting discharge of molten metal (2) retained in a ladle (3) during pouring into an injection sleeve of a die-casting machine, and capable of preventing a residual molten metal from being suspended from the intake/discharge port (3C). A ladle is selectively communicatable with an atmosphere by the opening/closing unit (4). The opening/closing unit (4) is connected to a molten metal pressurizing mechanism (20) and a residual molten metal removing mechanism (30) through pipes (40). At the time of pouring, small volume or low pressure fluid is introduced into the ladle (3) by means of the molten metal pressurizing mechanism through the opening/closing unit. After completion of the pouring, large volume or high pressure fluid is introduced into the ladle by the residual molten metal removing mechanism. Since low volume or low pressure fluid is applied into the ladle during pouring, the molten metal can be smoothly discharged from the ladle. After the pouring, since large volume or high pressure fluid is applied into the ladle, residual molten metal in the ladle can be discharged therefrom, and no molten metal suspension from the intake-discharge port occurs. Thus, casting period can be reduced, and clean working condition can be provided.

    • A laminar flow injection molding apparatus and a laminar flow injection molding method capable of directly judging flow mode of molten metal flowing into a metal mold (1,3), either laminar flow mode or turbulent flow mode. An injection molding apparatus includes metal molds in which a runner (5) portion, a cavity (9), and a gas vent passage (29) are formed in communication with a casting sleeve (11). Molten metal detection members (69,69A) are provided in confrontation with at least one of the runner portion, the cavity (9) and the gas vent passage (29). In a single injecting operation, molten metal detection signal (S1) is generated each time the molten metal is brought into contact with the detection member. The molten metal detection member is connected to a counter circuit (200) where numbers of the detection signals are stored as a count value. A judgment circuit (300) to which a preset value is inputted is electrically connected to the counter circuit (202) so as to compare the count value with the preset value. Since flow mode of the molten metal can be directly detected, quality of the casted product can be determined even during the casting process, to thereby enhance productivity.

    • In an injection molding apparatus, provided are a main die-casting section, a gas venting arrangement for discharging gas from a mold cavity, and means for acknowledging operation mode of the gas venting arrangement. The gas venting arrangement has a gas vent control valve for opening and closing a gas vent passage in communication with the mold cavity. The acknowledging means checks actual period starting from a molten metal detection at the gas vent passage and ending at a timing of complete closure of the gas vent control valve. A comparator is provided for comparing the actual period with a normal set period. If the actual period is outside the normal period, alarm signal is generated for notifying an operator of any abnormality in the gas venting arrangement.
