Second taps are connected to inputs of optical amplifiers which outputs are connected through optical splitters to inputs of all optical two-state elements of second group which correspond to comparison channels of lower bits. Their direct outputs are absorbing and inverse outputs are connected to inputs of second group of branches, which first taps are connected to inputs of optical two-state elements of third group. second taps are connected to interfaces of fourth group. Outputs of two-state elements of third and fourth groups are connected to joined taps of first and second output branches respectively. Outputs of output branches are device outputs.     • FIELD: optical computer engineering, optical computers and neurosystem. SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at determination of optical signal with maximum amplitude in sequence of optical pulses. Device includes source of coherent radiation, input optical splitter with three optical branchings, three optical modulators, three photodetectors, optical Y- splitter and phase modulator. Output of source of coherent radiation is connected to input of input optical splitter. Outputs of optical branchings of it are connected to information inputs of optical modulators. Controlling input of first optical modulator is connected to output of first photodetector which input is input of device. Controlling input of second optical modulator is connected to output of second photodetector. Outputs of first and second optical modulators are connected to inputs of first and second optical Y-splitters correspondingly. Outputs of second optical branchings of them are directly connected to first optical Y-splitter and through phase modulator near second optical Y-splitter to input of third photodetector. Its output is connected to controlling input of third optical modulator which output is connected to input of optical waveguide integrated with output with first optical branchings of first and second optical Y-splitters and with input of third optical Y-splitter. Output of second optical branching of it is connected to input of second photodetector and output of first one is output of device.
