    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of feeding a paper sheet with a waveform in a width direction without causing unloaded feeding or wrinkles in the sheet.
      SOLUTION: The paper feeder 1 has a paper feed tray stacking a plurality of paper sheets, a scraper roll 3 applying a conveyance power on the top sheet stacked on the tray, guide plates 4 provided below the roll 3 in the downstream of paper conveyance direction and arranged to range over almost the whole sheet width direction, a separating plate 5 provided directly below the guide plates 4 in the downstream of the conveyance direction, and a pick up roll 6 arranged above the separating plate. The guide plates 4 are arranged near right and left sides of the separating plate, and have right and left inclined surfaces 4a for restricting sheets with height gradually increased downwards in the conveyance direction and right and left inclined surfaces 4b for guiding the sheets arranged outside the inclined surfaces 4a with a smaller inclination angle than that of the surfaces 4a.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the maintenance around a discharge port without changing the position of side fences. SOLUTION: A pair of side fences 53, which are erected on both sides in the width direction of printing paper perpendicular to the discharging direction of the printing paper on a discharged paper bed 50 loading the discharged printing paper to align the width direction of the printing paper, are made tiltable around axes 63a to be separated in the width direction of the printing paper. At the recovering work when a paper jam occurs around the discharge port of the printing paper, the side fences 53 are separatively tilted, thereby a frontage is widened, and the recovering work can be performed, with the side fences becoming no obstacle. Since the side fences 53 are tilted around the axes 63a, the positions of the side fences 53 positioned at printing actions are not impaired.
