摘要： The video data buffering apparatus and associated methods provide audio and video data buffering in a video processing device. Specifically, the system relates to the use of a circular buffer and linked list FIFO employed in a video processing system, wherein video data packets from multiple video streams are stored in a common buffer to compensate for transport packet jitter. The apparatus and methods enable the system to store multiple QAM video stream packets in a common memory buffer. Linked list FIFOS are generated to identify the packets and their location within the common memory buffer. The linked list information is used to transfer the data between the common memory buffer and a modulator.

The method and apparatus receive a request from a user device for a program stream over a local network at a receiver device that includes a join request at a network address. The method and apparatus further identify a channel associated with the network address, the channel being one of the channels received by the receiver device from a content service provider. The method and apparatus also determine if the identified channel is already tuned by a tuner in the receiver device. The method and apparatus additionally tune the channel using a tuner not currently being used if it is determined that the identified channel is not already tuned and provide the program stream from the tuned channel at the network address to the user device.

摘要： A system of defining, creating and decoding composite virtual channels advantageously supports dynamic channel and event substitution. A method, for use in a decoder for acquiring a program conveyed on more than one broadcast channel, involves generating a program guide display. The program guide display lists programs being broadcast on a plurality of broadcast channels during specified broadcast time segments and also lists a particular program on both a first and a second broadcast channel. The particular program is acquired from the first broadcast channel in response to user selection of either of the first and second broadcast channels. A plurality of prioritized channel maps are used in substituting an alternative program for a first program on a broadcast channel.
