摘要： An ultrasonic flaw detector for detecting irregularities in an object, such as a pipe (10), having a segment of annular cross-section. The detector includes a transducer (20) with an involute transmitting surface (116) for sending ultrasonic signals into the object at equal non-radial angles of incidence. The detector further includes transmission apparatus (122) for maintaining a constant physical relationship between the transducer (20) and the pipe and interpretive apparatus (300) for correlating reflections of ultrasonic signals within the object with irregularities.

摘要： Testing method and apparatus, incorporating a pair of transducers positioned on opposite sides of a weld seam. The transducers are alternately energized, and signals from the transducers are gated to develop signals representative of defects in various regions of the workpiece under test. Individual references are established for the different regions, and the signals are compared with the associated references. Output signals representing major defects are generated in accordance with various relationships of signals from the different regions of the workpiece.
