摘要： A user equipment, UE, determines n neighbor cells suitable for multipoint joint data communication with the UE. The determination may involve the UE receiving a neighbour cell list (NCL) and threshold 202 and, for each cell in the NCL, comparing received signal strength or another quality metric with the threshold 206. The UE obtains common channel configurations from each of a serving cell and n neighbor cells (204-1 to 204-3), from which the UE creates a combined channel configuration 208 and utilizes it for multipoint communications with those cells. The respective channel configurations may be obtained from the respective cells' system information broadcasts. The UE may report, in uplink signaling 210, the n neighbor cells which are suitable for multipoint communication with the UE. The invention may be used to provide multipoint reception, at a UE in the CELL-FACH state, from multiple network cells. See also co-pending application with publication number GB2490370. The system disclosed herein seems to be applicable to coordinated multipoint (CoMP) communications.

摘要： A method for a User Equipment (UE) to obtain an enhanced-transport format combination (E-TFC) for transmitting a scheduling information (SI) in a soft handoff (SHO) to a serving enhanced Data Channel (E-DCH) cell in a Heterogeneous Network (HetNet), is disclosed. The method comprises receiving an E-TFC selection power backoff (ESPB) value from an active macro cell, the active macro cell being the service E-ÂDCH cell; determining the E-TFC based on an indicated power of a serving grant minus the received ESPB value and a set of E-TFC power offset value received from the active macro cell, if an MAC-e/i data PDU to be transmitted is multiplexed with the SI; otherwise, determining the E-TFC based on the indicated power of the serving grant and the set of E-TFC power offset value; and transmitting the MAC-e/i PDU to the active macro cell using the indicated power of the serving grant and an enhanced dedicated channel selected based on the determined E-TFC. At an active cell, the method comprises: signaling a determined ESPB to a UE; setting an SI indication bit in each of received MAC-e/i data frames and forwarding the data frame to an associated RNC; causing an outer loop power control (OLPC) adjustment at the associated RNC; and optimising SI and data transmissions.

摘要： A user equipment UE determines that a neighbour cell is higher priority than a serving cell, measures neighbour cell signal strength in n>1 iterations, and analyzes them for reselecting from the serving cell to the neighbour cell. Each measurement iteration is spaced from one another by a time interval (e.g., 1 DRX) that is specific for the neighbour cell being higher priority. In various embodiments, the UE measures while in a Cell-PCH, URA-PCH or idle state/mode and the first iteration is taken at the first available measurement opportunity after transitioning to that state/mode. The UE reselects to the neighbour cell based on the analyzed signal strengths. In one embodiment the decision to reselect is without regard to signal quality of the serving cell and in another the decision is without regard to whether a reselection condition remains satisfied for a specified time period Treselection.

摘要： Testing carriers, particularly wireless carriers in mobile communication networks, by establishing a connection between a transmitter and a receiver over at least two carriers, introducing interference from a neighbouring cell, connecting one of the carriers to a fading channel emulator and measuring received signal characteristics after fading, then switching to another carrier and repeating the testing process for each of the carriers. The test method and a testing apparatus are particularly suited for type 3i receivers which use multicarrier operation in HSDPA. The method sequentially tests each carrier (30a,30b), one at a time. Applying multi-switches (33a-33f), channel emulators (32a-32f) and efficient connections, performance tests can be performed without any need for changing the User Equipment to be tested. In case a single carrier test is passed, the next carrier is selected for the test. All carriers are thus tested sequentially against a single carrier throughput requirement until all carriers have been processed.

摘要： In order to facilitate handover to CSGs on femto-cells without the need for measurement operations that use up bandwidth and battery life, user equipments (UE) keep a record of CSGs that they are allowed to access along with some location information in a CSG whitelist or fingerprint. When the UE again visits the femto-cell location it sends a proximity report to the network, possibly as a prelude to handover/reselection on to the femto-cell. 3GPP standards do not limit how the location information is determined, hence GPS, presence of WLAN signals or similar are allowable. This variety makes determining a standard test regime complex. The invention proposes that testing of proximity reporting should be based solely on cellular network (i.e. 3GPP) signals, in order to provide standard behaviour across all UEs. Other claims specify deleting CSG fingerprints, possibly in response to a command. The proximity test reporting may be initiated by a signal from the network, possibly by broadcasting a particular PLMN test identifier.
