    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it difficult for copper to enter the grain boundary of austenite generated in a steel material such as a rail and prevent grain boundary cracking of a welding part due to repeated stress by composing a welding metal, which is generated with a thermit reaction and joints the steel materials, of an alloy including a copper element and a nickel element. SOLUTION: A nickel element in the welding metal is 5 wt.% or more but 60 wt.% or less. A copper element is added to a thermit agent in a condition of metal copper and copper oxide. It is preferable that the copper material is a copper-wire or a copper stranded wire, the steel material is a rail, and also the copper material is a rail bond. The nickel element is added to the thermit agent under the condition of metallic nickel and nickel oxide. A copper- nickel alloy may be added to the thermit agent. A substance including nickel may be added to a welding portion in a separate route from the thermit agent. Since quality of the thermit welding is improved, the steel material and the copper material can be welded at high quality, regardless of techniques of operators.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation of carbonic acid gas, to increase the safety of operation, and to increase quality.
      SOLUTION: A combustion gas feeding part 1 is provided with an oxygen- hydrogen gaseous mixture generator 3, a carbon compound vaporizer 4 and a gas mixing chamber 5. The oxygen-hydrogen gaseous mixture generator 3 in the combustion gas feeding part 1 electrolyzes water to generate a gaseous mixture of oxygen and hydrogen. The carbon compound vaporizer 4 is used for stabilizing the flame of the oxygen-hydrogen gaseous mixture since the flame is not stabilized only in itself. The gas mixing chamber 5 mixes the oxygen-hydrgen gaseous mixture of the oxygen-hydrogen gaseous mixture generator 3 and hexane of the carbon compound vaporizer 4 so that their ratios reach a prescribed ratio, and feeds the resultant gaseous mixture into a gas burner 2.

      2k (k is a natural number), the volume ratio of the feed rate of the fuel gas to the feed rate of the gaseous oxygen is taken as 1:(1.25k-1) when there is no butting gap between the members to be joined. Only the feed rate of the fuel gas per unit time is increased as the but gap between the members to be joined is made larger.
