摘要： Methods and systems implement touch sensors or force sensitive materials disposed on the case of a computing device in order to enable user input gestures to be performed on portions of the device case. The force sensitive elements may generate an electrical signal in response to a gesture, such as a tap, squeeze, swipe or twist. The properties of the generated electrical signal may be compared to various reference templates to recognize particular input gestures. The force sensitive elements may operate in conjunction with more traditional input methods, such as touch-screen display and electromechanical buttons. By enabling user input gestures on the case of computing devices, the various aspects permit one hand operation of the devices including intuitive gestures that do not require the users focused attention to accomplish. Thus the various aspects may enable users to utilize their computing devices in situations not suitable to conventional user input technologies.

摘要： A mobile handset includes a processor configured with software to automatically synchronize the phone book records stored on a smart card and internally in memory. The synchronization process determines if duplicate contact records exist in the target phone book, and whether the synchronization copies records from the smart card to internal memory, or vice versa, before copying contact records. If a duplicate contact record exists, then the copying process is cancelled. The synchronization process may be automatically initiated any time the contact records in the internal memory and the smart card differ.

Such a gesture recognition overlay functionality may enable users to enter alphanumeric text and edit text by performing simple gestures on an overlay presented above other images on the touchscreen display. By providing a larger area for accepting user input touch gestures as well as presenting menus, the various embodiments facilitate text entry and editing operations on the relatively small area of most mobile device touchscreen displays. A variety of functions may be correlated to user inputs within the gesture recognition overlay, and various operating modes may be included in the functionality, such as a text selection mode and a toolbar menu mode.

A display image may be contorted to inform the user about the progress towards accomplishing the function. The function operation of contorting the display image may begin at a minimum measure of the traced path and complete at a maximum measure of the traced path. In an embodiment, terminating an application and returning to the home display may be achieved in response to a clockwise path trace and minimizing of an application and returning to home display may be achieved in response to a counterclockwise path trace, or vice versa.

摘要： Methods and devices provide an efficient user interface for providing continuous zoom or magnification of a displayed image on a computing device. A user may initiate a zoom-in or zoom-out function by tracing an ellipsoidal shape (e.g., a circle) using a user interface device, such as a touchscreen, touchpad or mouse. The zoom function continues so long as a touchscreen or touchpad are touched, or a mouse button is depressed, and an ellipsoidal path is traced.
