    • Methods and apparatus of cell detection include determining whether communication between a user equipment and a serving cell satisfies a serving cell unsuitability condition (which may comprise a serving cell disconnection threshold value, i.e. a value indicative of potential or actual unsuitable wireless communication based on received signal code power (RSCP), reference signal received power (RSRP), reference signal received quality (RSRQ), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), receive signal strength indicator (RSSI), or received energy-to-interference ratio). The methods and apparatus further include performing one or more autonomous search procedures (e.g. comprising searching for previously camped frequencies, searching a fingerprint database for fingerprinted cells or searching for available cells in all detected frequencies) based on whether the serving cell unsuitability condition has been satisfied. Moreover, the methods and apparatus include conducting cell reselection based on one or more results from the one or more autonomous search procedures, wherein the one or more results indicate at least one suitable cell for reselection.

    • In various aspects, the disclosure provides user equipment (UE) capable of conducting a public land mobile network (PLMN) search by determining a paging schedule for a serving cell of the UE, the serving cell being associated with a first PLMN and the paging schedule defining one or more paging occasions. The UE may initiate a search for a second PLMN between consecutive paging occasions, and may read information blocks on a broadcast channel of a cell of the second PLMN. The UE may discontinue reading a partially-read information block when the partially-read information block is scheduled for transmission at least partially concurrently with a paging occasion on the serving cell if the partially-read information block does not include information for identifying the second PLMN. The UE may ignore the first paging occasion when the partially-read information block includes the information for identifying the second PLMN.

    • Methods, systems, apparatuses, and devices are described for managing wireless communication at a user equipment (UE). An exemplary method includes adding an identifier of a cell to a sub-optimal cell list based at least in part on a cell classification determination made by the UE, and avoiding a cell access procedure for the cell based at least in part on inclusion of the identifier in the sub-optimal cell list. Another exemplary method includes maintaining a sub-optimal cell list and an associated priority service exception list, initiating a service on the priority service exception list, identifying inclusion of a cell on the sub-optimal cell list, where the cell is associated with a cell access procedure initiated for the service, and accessing the cell included in the sub-optimal cell list based at least in part on inclusion of the service in the priority service exception list.
