    • Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) and a base station operating in unlicensed spectrum may temporarily increase a paging opportunity window (POW) size, or reduce a time between POWs, in order to meet performance metrics or account for time periods when a base station is unable to win access to the wireless medium during a POW. In some cases, a UE may identify a failed listen-before-talk procedure and autonomously update the POW size. In other examples, a base station may initiate a change in POW size or increase a number of paging opportunities in order to meet achieve one or more key performance indicators (KPIs). After a predetermined period, or after a triggering condition is no longer present, the UE and the base station may reset the POW size or the number of paging opportunities to a nominal amount to conserve power.

    • An apparatus may receive, from a scheduling entity, sidelink grant information in a downlink control channel. After receiving the grant information in the downlink control channel, the apparatus may transmit a request-to-send (RTS) signal comprising an indication of a requested duration of time to reserve a sidelink channel for sidelink data. If the sidelink channel is available for the requested duration of time, the apparatus may receive a clear-to-send (CTS) signal configured to indicate an availability of the sidelink channel for the requested duration of time. Subsequently, the apparatus may communicate, with another apparatus different from the scheduling entity, the sidelink data using the sidelink channel during the requested duration of time. Afterwards, the apparatus may communicate acknowledgment information corresponding to the communication of the sidelink signal with the other apparatus. Various additional and alternative aspects are described herein.

    • Techniques for sending acknowledgement (ACK) and/or other control information with a configurable timeline are described. A receiver may have limited processing resources and may need different amounts of time to process different amounts of data. The receiver may send ACK information earlier (or later) if less (or more) receive processing time is required. In one design, the receiver may receive a transmission of data in accordance with a grant, decode the received transmission to recover the data, and determine ACK information based on decoding result. The receiver may determine a frame to send the ACK information based on the grant. The determined frame may be one of multiple frames available for sending the ACK information. For example, different grant sizes may be associated with different frames. The receiver may send the ACK information for the transmission of data in the determined frame.
