    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve SUPL 2.0, which provides a secure technique to efficiently provide location based services.SOLUTION: To initiate SUPL service, a SLP transmits a SUPL initial session message applicable to any service request to a SUPL enabled terminal (SET) and receives in response the service capabilities of the SET. The SLP selects, and requests from the SET, service consistent with the service capabilities of the SET. The SET may initiate SUPL service by requesting the service capabilities of the SLP. The SET selects, and requests from the SLP, service that is consistent with the service capabilities received from the SLP. The SET and the SLP communicate to determine a position estimate for the SET. The service may be modified before or while communicating between the SET and the SLP to determine a position estimate for the SET.

The H-MPC 160 receives an S-PDE address or a position estimate of the mobile station from the S-MPC 150 and forwards this information to the mobile station 110. The mobile station 110 communicates with the S-PDE 140 for positioning using the S-PDE address.
