    • A large diameter, short toothed rolling shield fabricated by vacuum forming talc filled polyethylene sheet having a smooth surface and sufficient flexibility to resist soil build-up in damp conditions. Preferably the diameter of the shield is substantially greater than twenty inches and on the order of twenty four inches and includes teeth uniformly spaced around the periphery, each tooth having a length less than approximately ten percent of the shield radius. A circular rib near the center of the shield and radial reinforcing ribs extending from the circular rib on the convex side of the shield to the base of alternating teeth provide stiffness and strength. The concave tool side of the shield is devoid of protrusions to reduce churning of thrown soil.

    • A trailing attachment for a deep tillage implement is supported from the implement frame by transversely spaced four-bar linkages extending rearwardly from the frame. Single acting hydraulic cylinders are pressurized to lift and adjust the attachment. A breather plug and a U-shaped hose allow air to be pushed from the rod end as each cylinder extends. To lower the trailing attachment, an SCV is moved to open the base ends of the cylinders to the return line of the hydraulic system, and the weight of the attachment moves the tools into ground engagement. If vertical lifting force exceeds attachment weight during operation, air is pushed out through the breather plug and a vacuum is drawn in the base ends so the attachment can lift to avoid excessive forces, even if the SCV is in neutral and blocking fluid flow into the base ends.

    • A maintenance free repetitive sealing system for a disk blade bearing hub utilizing an integrated system of components to seal and protect the primary bearing seal. The blade side of the spindle includes a hub overlap portion which deflects dirt, keeps large debris out, and prevents wrapping. A plastic seal protector keeps dirt and debris from pushing directly into external seal lips of a multiple lip seal. The lip seal provides positive sealing and is backed up by a grease layer barrier. The hub overlap, plastic seal protector, and grease barrier protect the bearing seal. The back side of the bearing hub is positively sealed with a protected O-ring and dust cap combination. The cap combination also protects the blade mounting hardware threads and nut.

    • A disk support bracket assembly including a cross tube bracket and a disk shank support bracket pivotally connected to the cross tube bracket to allow the disk support bracket to pivot between a working position wherein the bracket bottoms against the cross tube bracket, and a storage position wherein the bracket is offset vertically from the cross tube to increase clearance. The shank support bracket is pivotally connected to the cross tube bracket near an upper forward corner of the cross tube and includes a relatively wide stop portion that bottoms against a mating stop portion at the front face of the tube bracket when the shank support bracket is in the working position. A pin is selectively insertable through apertures in the brackets adjacent the stop to lock the shank in an upright working position. As the disk is operated in the forward direction, the load on the disk supporting shank urges the stop portions together to bear substantially all the shank loads in the stop area so that forces on the pin and pin wear are reduced over that encountered by a normal load-bearing pin.
