    • The present invention provides (i) a novel composition which is the polyol reaction product polyol made by mixing together a polyhydroxyl-tertiary amine, at least two of the hydroxyl groups of said amine being indirectly bonded to a nitrogen atom of said amine through a chain containing at least two carbon atoms, with an organic polyisocyanate, essentially all the isocyanate groups of said polyisocyanate being reacted with hydroxyl groups of said amine, and (ii) a coating composition containing a film forming binder and a volatile organic liquid carrier, said binder containing (I) hydroxyl-containing acrylic polymer and (II) the novel composition (i).

    • The present invention is directed to a coating composition that can be cured by radiation, chemical crosslink or both radiation and chemical crosslink. The coating composition comprises one or more radiation curable unsaturated double bonds and one or more crosslinkable functional groups, wherein a layer of said coating composition applied over a substrate cures into a dry coating when exposed to actinic radiation and said dry coating has a glass transition temperature between 15° C. to 120° C. The coating composition can be used in either 1K or 2K coating systems. This invention is also directed to a method of using said coating composition to coat a substrate including a vehicle, a vehicle body or parts thereof.

    • Heat distortion temperature of polyvinyl chloride compositions can be significantly increased above the heat distortion temperature of uncompounded polyvinyl chloride while good appearance of extruded material is preserved by preblending an imidized acrylic resin having a glass transition temperature above 130.degree. C. with a third polymer melt-processable throughout the temperature range of 150.degree.-300.degree. C. under conditions where a two-phase blend is formed, wherein the third polymer forms the continuous phase and the imidized acrylic resin forms the dispersed phase and then melt-blending the two-phase blend with polyvinyl chloride at a temperature of 150.degree.-220.degree. C. to form a composition in which the imidized acrylic resin forms a substantially homogeneous blend with polyvinyl chloride. It also is possible to preblend imidized acrylic resin with a third polymer with which it is compatible, for example, another imidized acrylic resin having a sufficiently low glass transition temperature to lower the resulting glass transition temperature of the preblend below about 130.degree. C., which then is blended with polyvinyl chloride.
