摘要： A stream of hot oxygen is formed by providing a duct and a fuel lance movable axially within the duct, flowing gaseous fuel out of the lance into the duct, mixing it in the duct with gaseous oxidant, flowing the mixture out of the duct into an atmosphere which is hot enough that it ignites the mixture without aid of an ignition source other than said atmosphere, and combusting said mixture in a flame that does not extend into said duct; then moving the lance so its fuel outlet approaches the duct exit orifice so that the base of said flame moves inside said duct to the fuel outlet; and then moving the lance to draw the fuel outlet and the flame attached thereto away from the exit orifice into the duct; and increasing the flow rate of gaseous oxidant in said duct, so that combustion of fuel within the duct heats uncombusted oxygen which emerges as a stream of hot oxidant.

摘要： A method of injecting oxygen into a melt located within a metallurgical furnace having a heated furnace atmosphere in which oxygen and fuel is injected into 1 or more nozzles having passageways of converging- diverging configuration under choked flow conditions to produce supersonic jet or jets discharged from the passageways. Fuel is injected into internal circumferential locations of the passageways so as to impart a structure to the jets being discharged that have an outer circumferential region containing a mixture of fuel and oxygen and a central region containing essentially oxygen. Such a structured jet upon discharge interacts with the furnace atmosphere to create an outer shear-mixing zone in which the outer circumferential layer mixes with the heated furnace atmosphere and auto- ignites to produce a flame envelope surrounding a supersonic jet of oxygen. The jet of oxygen and flame envelope can be directed against a melt contained within the metallurgical furnace for injection of oxygen into the melt.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a multiplex coherent gas jet with a simple lance by feeding out fuel and oxidizer from the end part of a lance, burning, forming a flame envelope surrounding plural gas jets and individually holding the flow of each gas jet over this longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: The gas is jetted from each outlet opening hole 5 in plural nozzles 3 arranged in the lance 1. A first annular jetting means 8 on an acting surface at the end part 2 of the lance 1 is formed as a ring encircling the outlet opening holes 5 of plural nozzles 3 and a second annular jetting means 9 is formed as a ring by encircling the first annular jetting means 8. The fuel and the oxidizer exhausted from those two annular means are burnt to form the envelope surrounding plural gas jets. A space 11 formed with an outer extending part 10 forms a protecting zone which immediately protects at the flow-out time of the oxidizer from the end part 2 and works in assistant to obtain the coherency to each gas jet.

SOLUTION: In a method for changing length of coagulated jet, a coagulated jet is established by using a flame surrounding material generated by using gaseous fuel and the length of the jet is changed by changing the flow rate of the fuel. Desirably, the total flow rate of the fuel and an inert gas for makeup is fixed by using the inert gas. This method includes a step of establishing a coagulated jet having a first length by forming the flame surrounding material coaxially with the flow of a main gas, by combusting the gaseous fuel and an oxidizing material by supplying the main gas in a main gas flow at a main gas flow rate and the gaseous fuel at a first gaseous fuel flow rate, and another step of establishing another coagulated jet having a second length which is different from the first length by forming the flame surrounding material coaxially with the flow of the main gas, by combusting the gaseous fuel and oxidizing material by supplying the main gas in the main gas flow at the main gas flow rate and the gaseous fuel at a second gaseous fuel flow rate which is different from the first flow rate.
