    • An electronic whiteboard system with an eraser device is disclosed. The electronic whiteboard system can comprise a writing surface and a retro-reflective perimeter. One of more optical detection elements can be disposed at the corners of the perimeter. The detection elements can emit a light beam and detect its reflection. The system can detect the presence of an object in proximity to the writing surface by the absence of reflected light. The erasing device can comprise retro-reflective elements. The retro-reflective elements can produce a distinct reflective pattern observed by the detection elements when they reflect the emitted light beams. The reflective pattern can be analyzed to determine the orientation of the erasing device relative to the writing surface. By determining the actual orientation of the erasing device ghosting, or ambiguity in the orientation of device, can be eliminated or substantially reduced.

    • Embodiments of a processing systems and methods can unbend an image of facing pages of a bound book. An exemplary processing system can comprise an edge-detection unit, a keystone-correction unit, a flattening unit, and a conversion unit. After an image is received by the processing system, the image can be processed in turn by each unit. The edge-detection unit can identify edges of a document in the image. The keystone-correction unit can reduce or remove keystoning in the image, thereby correcting horizontal distortion of the document. The flattening unit can flatten or straighten text or objects in the image, thereby correcting vertical distortion of the document. The conversion unit can convert the image to a desired color profile. Accordingly, the processing system can process an original image into a more easily readable and digitally manipulable image.

    • An input device for interacting with a display surface of an electronic display system. The input device can comprise a body, a nib, a sensing system, a cap, and a mode-indicating system. The body can provide structural support for the input device. The nib, which is in communication with the body, can be used to directly interact with the display surface. The sensing system can sense indicia of a posture of the input device with respect to the display surface to facilitate operation of the input device. The cap is securable over the nib, and can be incorporated into the mode-indicating system. When the cap is secured over the nib, the input device can operate in a first operating mode, and when the cap is removed, the input device can operate in a second operating mode.
