SOLUTION: A flexible rope-shaped long-sized portion 11 of a predetermined length is provided, a small-diameter bar-shaped coupling portion 13 is formed at one end of the long-sized portion 11; both a ring portion 15 for bending the long-sized portion 11 to a ring shape and being insertable and a hole-shaped portion 16 to be coupled linking to a coupling portion 13 use a coupling portion 10 formed together with the other end of the long-sized portion in one united body. Coupling devices 10, 10 attached to adjacent drain members 7, 7 are mutually coupled together so as to link the one coupling portion 13 to the other portion to be coupled 16. Intervals of the drain members 7,7... are kept almost uniformly and a permeable layer by the drain members 7, 7... can be kept as a continuously curved surface shape even though they are moved by uneven settlement.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compaction soil improvement method which improves stability of subsoil when disposing dredged viscous soil and the like having a low coefficient of permeability, and eliminates or reduces the necessity for a conventional drain installation.SOLUTION: In a compaction soil improvement method, viscous soil having a coefficient of permeability within the range from 10to 10cm/sec and a short-fiber material having an in-plane coefficient of permeability higher than the coefficient of permeability of the viscous soil are uniformly mixed together. Thereby, a short-fiber mixed soil having a higher coefficient of permeability than that of the viscous soil is made, and a compaction process is performed on a ground where the short-fiber mixed soil is placed. Here, the in-plane coefficient of permeability is the coefficient of permeability of water passing through the cross section of the short-fiber material.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reducing method for water bottom soft ground capable of ecomonically carrying out a descending work of the water bottom face for securing water depth of a route by making use of water bottom soft ground consolidation method. SOLUTION: An impervious caisson body 1 having a vertically cylindrical impervious wall 1a piercing into the ground at the periphery, closed at the top 1b and opened at the lower end, is used. A plurality of drain pile driving sections 10 having a unit area corresponding to the size of the impervious caisson 1 are set with a distance a wider than a vertical drain member distance b at the surface of the water bottom soft ground. A number of vertical drain piles 12, 12, etc., are driven from the water bottom soft ground surface at every drain pile driving section 10, and a horizontal drain material 13a tied to the vertical drain material is laid in the water bottom soft ground surface, the impervious caisson body 1 is put on to cover the upper face of the material 13a by making the impervious wall 1a penetrate the soft ground. After that, the inside of the horizontal drain material 13a in each impervious caisson body is vacuumized at the same time to dewater the water bottom soft ground and reduce the volume.
