    • The invention relates to a distribution chute (100) for a charging device of the rotary pivotal type, e.g. for a shaft furnace. The chute has an upstream mounting head (114) and a chute body (112) having an elongated downstream chute portion (116) with a longitudinal axis (L). It further includes at least two lateral suspensions (130) at the mounting head for mounting the chute to at least two corresponding support flanges of the charging device, the support flanges (140) being pivotable about the pivoting axis (B) in a raising sense (R) for raising the outlet (120) to a radially outermost charging position and in an opposite lowering sense for lowering the outlet to a radially innermost charging position with respect to the rotational axis. The suspensions (130) define a first and a second tilt points, which define, in turn, a tilt axis (T), about which the weight of the chute exerts torque onto support flanges of the charging device when the chute is mounted. The suspensions are configured in such a way that the ratio of the distance between the tilt axis and the pivoting axis to the distance between the first and second tilt points (which corresponds at least approximatively to the distance between the suspensions) amounts to 0.25 at most. According to the invention, the suspensions (130, 230, 330) are arranged so that an acute angle (a) from the longitudinal axis (L) to a virtual plane (P) through the tilt axis (T) and the center of gravity (G) of the chute has an angular measure in the raising sense (R) that has a small positive or a negligibly negative value.

    • The present invention proposes a distribution device for a changing installation that has, a rotating and pivoting distribution chute. The device has a casing that rotatably supports a rotatable structure (hereinafter: rotor) to which the chute is mounted. The casing has a stationary heat protection shield at its lower end. The shield has a central opening delimited by an inner border. The shield extends radially outward and protects the inside of the casing against heat. The rotor, on the other hand, has a generally tube-shaped support coaxial on its rotation axis with tilting shafts for pivoting the chute. According to the invention, the tubular support reaches with its lower edge to the border of the opening in the shield. Furthermore, the chute is mounted with its upper portion inside the tubular support with its inlet above the lower edge of the support. In order to enable such mounting of the chute inlet directly inside the rotor without reducing the radial charging range, the chute is provided with a bent shape. Accordingly, the chute body has an upper portion, in which material flows along a first direction, and a lower portion, in which material flows along a diverted second direction. The upper portion of the chute body comprises an annular closed mounting head that forms the inlet and has two diametrically opposite mounting members. The tilting shafts each have a respective mount cooperating with one of the mounting members. The annular closed mounting head has a first longitudinal axis and forms the inlet. The lower portion comprises a circumferentially closed jacket having a second longitudinal axis and terminating at the outlet, the longitudinal axes being arranged at an angle that corresponds approximately to the angle between the first and second directions. A recess is provided in the chute body that permits tilting the chute to a raised position, in which the lower edge of the tubular support enters the recess.

    • A spreading device (10) for the spreading of bulk material on a circular surface comprises a distribution plate (12) mounted about a central shaft (14); at least one radially extending slit (16) arranged in the distribution plate (12); and a scraper device (24) for spreading the bulk material over the length of the slit (16). The bulk material is preferably granular or powdered covering material to be deposited as an insulation layer on the top layer of a casting mould containing molten steel or metal. According to the present invention, a rectangular distribution trough (22) mounted on the distribution plate (12), the slit (16) being arranged within the distribution trough (22). Furthermore, a feed pipe (30) is arranged so as to feed bulk material into the distribution trough (22) onto an area corresponding to the rotational centre (18) of the distribution plate. The slit (16) extends from the rotational centre (18) of the distribution plate (12) to the edge (20) thereof. Finally, the scraper device (24) comprises at least one linearly displaceable scraper (28) arranged within the distribution trough (22) so as to feed the bulk material through the distribution trough (22) radially outwards from the rotational centre (18) of the distribution plate (12). The invention also relates to a method for applying a homogeneous layer of material onto a circular surface by using such a spreading device (10).
