    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliability-enhanced hermetic compressor to be driven by an inverter circuit, in which, in order to improve oil shortage when starting the hermetic compressor, the compressor is operated at a commercial frequency until oil for starting is accumulated in an oil storage groove and then the oil is supplied from the oil storage groove to a lower race.SOLUTION: When operating a hermetic compressor at less than a commercial frequency, the compressor is operated at the commercial frequency until oil 103 for starting is accumulated on an upper surface of a lower race 169 of an oil storage groove 184, and a lubrication state can be stabilized and reliability can be enhanced by quickly supplying sufficient oil to an upper race 161 and the lower race 169. Since the oil 103 supplied from a main shaft part 123 can be stored in the oil storage groove 184 by collecting the oil 103 by an oil fence 180, oil can be sufficiently supplied from the oil storage groove 184 to the lower race 169 and a contact state between a ball 165 and the lower race 169 can be stabilized, so that the ball 165 and the lower race 169 can be prevented from being damaged.

Also, by disposing the centrifugal pump on the upper part of the viscous pump, an oil feeding time of the lubricating oil to the sliding part at the start-up is shortened, and the occurrence of wear at the sliding part is suppressed, thereby reducing the input to improve the efficiency and the reliability.
