    • A Power system protection and control system has protection and control terminals that perform protection and control of a power system by operation of a plurality of CBs in response to state variables input from power system; and a power system monitoring and control host mutually connected in a fashion to permit data exchange through a transmission system (communication network) with protection and control terminals and that performs monitoring and control of power system in accordance with data transmitted from protection and control terminals. Protection and control terminals each has a correlation circuit that performs correlation of an operated CB and the cause of its operation, using information sent from protective relay circuit, CB control circuit, re-closure circuit and CB state receiving circuit when at least one of a plurality of CBs is operated, and a correlation result transmission circuit that transmits the result obtained by the correlation processing of this correlation circuit to power system monitoring and control host through transmission system. The power system monitoring and control host includes a correlation result transmission unit that receives and displays the correlation result transmitted through transmission system from correlation result transmission circuit, associated message file storage unit and CB operation display unit.

    • Disclosed is a position estimation device including a feature extraction unit that extracts invariant features from an input image, a matching unit that obtains matching between an input image and a registered place by referring to a database containing each registered place and invariant features in association, a similarity calculation unit that calculates a similarity with inclusion of a registered place near a selected registered place when the matching is a threshold or more, and a position identification unit that identifies the input image as a registered place when the similarity is a threshold or more. The feature extraction unit extracts local features from each input image being sequential images taken sequentially, selects features matched between the sequential images as sequential features, and calculates invariant features based on the sequential features. The number of sequential images is variable depending on the number of matched features.

    • A receiver for the CDMA system which reduces power consumption during a suspension period of intermittent receiving operation by monitoring a suspension period by a low-power timer so that a VC-TCXO, reference signal group generation and receiving units are turned off and a modem unit is set to a sleep state. Upon resumption of receiving operation, a high-accuracy timer is started to count a time period and part of a received signal is stored. A PN code phase of stored data is calculated during the time period to obtain an indication value for phase deviation. State vectors for short and long codes and a further reception time are calculated based on the indication value. When the high-accuracy timer counts the time period and produces 0V(d), demodulation operation by a rake demodulation, demultiplexing, and descrambler units is started and is continued during the reception time.

    • In an AFC ((Automatic Frequency Control) circuit, a frequency offset estimating circuit (11) produces a lock signal (102) if a calculated frequency error becomes smaller than a predetermined value. Then, a CPU (13) produces a control signal (104) to stop the operation of the frequency offset estimating circuit (11). A timing generating circuit (14) calculates a frequency error with reference to a frame timing correction amount from a delay profile/search circuit (12), and produces an unlock signal (103) if the frequency error becomes equal to or greater than the predetermined value. Then, the CPU (13) produces the control signal (104) to start the operation of the frequency offset estimating circuit (11). Thus, the frequency offset estimating circuit (11) stops its operation while the AFC operation is in the locked state.
