    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for carrying out anti-pilling processing of a protein in which stable processing treatment can be carried out and a material having definite quality is obtained thereby and sufficient softness and touch feeling are imparted to a protein-based fibrous material after treatment and excellent anti-pilling properties are obtained. SOLUTION: The method for carrying out anti-pilling processing of the protein-based fibrous material comprises carrying out crosslinking reaction of the protein-based fibrous material with a crosslinking agent containing ≥1 wt.% one or more kinds of pyrimidine compounds selected from a group consisting of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine, 2,6-dichloropyrimidine, 2,6-dichloro-4-aminopyrimidine, 4,6-dichloropyrimidine and 2-amino-4,6-dichloropyrimidine under weakly alkaline conditions in which pH is 8.5-9.9 at the beginning of reaction start and 7.0-7.9 at the end of reaction.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional method for antipilling finishing of a proteinic fiber material is a by-product of a finishing method intended to prevent felting and to prevent shrinkage, and only provides a poor antipilling properties. SOLUTION: This method for antipilling finishing comprises using a compound having both of a glycidyl group and a vinyl group, a compound having at least two or more of either group, or a glycidyl methacrylate compound as a crosslinking agent, and carrying out the crosslinking reaction while regulating the pH of a treating liquid containing the crosslinking agent so as to be 2.0-8.0. As a result, excellent antipilling properties are imparted to the proteinic fiber material to provide rating 5 in a pilling test of JIS L1076. The feeling originally possessed by the proteinic fiber material is not damaged and the fiber does not deteriorated because the pH of the treating liquid is regulated within the range of 2.0-8.0.
