The transport mechanism (2) comprises: a first conveyor device (20) having a first conveyor body (21) which is configured to support a plurality of sheets (S) of print medium, the first conveyor body (21) being movable to convey the sheets (S) along the transport path (P) in the printing system (1); and a transfer system (50) comprising a second conveyor device (30) having a movable second conveyor body (31) for supporting the sheets (S) of print medium and conveying the sheets (S) further along the transport path (P), the transfer system (50) being configured to transfer the sheets (S) of print medium from the first conveyor body (21) to the second conveyor body (31) in a transfer region (T). The second conveyor body (31) is arranged adjacent or proximate to the first conveyor body (21) in the transfer region (T), and the transfer system (50) includes spacer means (55) which is configured to maintain a predefined spacing (δ) between the first conveyor body (21) and the second conveyor body (31) in the transfer region (T). 摘要： According to the present invention a sheet handling apparatus is provided which comprises a rotary drum (31) with openings at its peripheral wall. A strip (35) with perforations formed therein spirals circumferentially over an outer surface of the drum in a circumferential spiralling direction, such that a screen is formed over the drum. A suction system controls a flow of air through the perforations thereby to attract sheets towards the drum. The strip is biased by means of a tensioning assembly (40,41), which exerts a tensioning force on the strip substantially parallel to the circumferential spiralling direction of the strip.
