A first delay circuit and a second delay circuit output image data that is captured by a first CCD line sensor and a second CCD line sensor to an adder after retaining the image data for a time in accordance with the input control signal. The adder generates color image data by adding the image data that is captured by the first CCD line sensor to the image data that is captured by the second CCD line sensor.

摘要： Reference images on the respective surfaces of a reference document transported on a transportation path are read out by a first image reading section and a second image reading section, respectively. As a result a first reference readout image and a second reference readout image are acquired. in accordance with the difference between the changes in the sub-scanning direction in the first reference readout image and the changes in the sub-scanning direction in the second reference readout image, the reading cycle of the first image reading section X1 and the reading cycle of the second image reading section X2 are set. This makes it possible to equalize the magnifications of the respective images on the front and back sides of the document, even if the speeds of the document at the times of passing through readout positions for the front and back sides change over time, on account of the wear of a transportation roller.

摘要： In order to prevent a situation that due to inherent variations in capability of a motor for a fan for blowing and sucking air, a motor for driving the suction transportation belt and the like, an external atmospheric pressure, and attaching of duct, the blowing force and the suction force upon the sheets become unstable, so that during suction attraction to the suction transportation belt, the sheets are not sucked parallel to the transportation direction but are sucked displaced, and therefore, a paper feeding error (jamming) results. An air blast nozzle for floating up the topmost sheet is disposed on the side to a sheet feeding cassette, and a suction transportation belt for suction attracting the topmost sheet is disposed above the sheet feeding cassette. A sheet pressing member is disposed above the sheet feeding cassette and a sheet rear end restricting plate. When the sheets have a small size which is smaller than a predetermined size, the sheet pressing member presses the topmost sheet at a rear end of the sheet from above and confines the sheet within a restricted area which is defined by the sheet rear end restricting plate and a sheet width restricting guide until the floated sheet is suction attracted to the suction transportation belt.

In this set pattern image, the centers of auxiliary patterns are displaced in an auxiliary scan direction off a referential straight line passing through the centers of primary patterns. The image forming apparatus causes the set pattern image to be read, measures the displacements of the auxiliary patterns in the auxiliary scan direction off the referential straight line, and compensates for the displacements, such as by adjusting writing timings in the auxiliary scan direction so that the displacements become zero.

An inputting device is provided in the upper position of the opening of the turning chamber while a discharging device is disposed in the lower portion of the opening of the turning chamber. The lower guide is inclined forming a down slope toward the discharging device. A fan is provided for sending air across the underside of the sheet as it is being inputted into the turning chamber. A duct is attached to the fan and is disposed between the inputting device and discharging device with the blower port thereof directed to the lower guide. The sheet inputted through the inputting device falls due to gravity whilst air is blown across the underside of the sheet so that the sheet can be accommodated into the turning chamber.

摘要： An image scanning device includes a CCD pair provided with two rows of photodiode arrays for scanning an image on a paper, a motor drive circuit for causing the CCD pair to sub-scan the image on the paper, and an adder for superimposedly combining two outputs of the CCD pair with a predetermined time lag therebetween. A control unit controls the adder to add the two outputs of the CCD pair without the time lag when received an instruction of a low resolution that corresponds to ½ of a high resolution by a resolution switch and thereby doubles a speed of the sub-scan by the motor drive circuit.
