    • An apparatus for measuring the weft yarn length for a loom constructed in accordance with the present invention comprises at least two weft yarn supply units each having a weft yarn length measurement element presenting a yarn winding surface, an equal number of electric motors each adapted for winding weft yarn around said yarn winding surface of the measurement element, and weft yarn latching mechanisms for controlling the amount of the weft yarn wound on each winding surface and the transfer of the wound yarn in the weft inserting direction. Each of the rotational speeds of the respective motors and the operation of the respective weft yarn latching mechanisms may be controlled by a control unit in accordance with a preset weft yarn selection program.Each yarn length measurement element may be associated with a sensor for sensing the number of times the weft yarn is wound on the element. Sensor signals are introduced into the control means from said sensors and speed commands are outputted from said control means to respective motors for compensating for any fluctuations that may be caused in the measured lengths of the weft yarn.

    • In an open-end spinning apparatus provided with a fiber feed mechanism, a combing roller for separating a bundle of fibers supplied from the feed mechanism into individual fibers, a spinning rotor for receiving individual fibers delivered from the combing roller and for forming a ring shaped bundle of fibers on a fiber collecting zone formed at an inside wall position having a maximum lateral diameter with respect to a rotational axis thereof, and a yarn guide means for introducing a yarn formed in the spinning rotor toward a takeup mechanism disposed at a position outside the spinning rotor, a plurality of air streams are directly blown toward the fiber collecting zone by means of air stream creating means so that the ring shaped bundle of fibers deposited on the fiber collecting surface is urged toward the inside wall of the rotor at this collecting zone by the action of the air stream together with the centrifugal force of the fibers which is created by the rotation of the spinning rotor.

    • Disclosed is an open-end spinning apparatus provided with a fiber-bundle supply mechanism disposed to a casing and a combing roller disposed in the casing, so as to separate the supplied bundle of fibers into individual fibers, and a spinning rotor for forming a yarn from said individual fibers; a fiber carrying passage is formed in the casing at a position between the fiber-bundle supply mechanism and the spinning rotor, the fiber carrying passage being provided with a combing section where an action of the combing roller is imparted to the bundle of fibers delivered from the fiber-bundle supply mechanism so that the fibers of the fiber-bundle are separated from each other from; a pneumatic or mechanical means is provided for positively introducing the above-mentioned individual fibers to a part of the cylindrical surface of the combing roller; so that, consequently, all fibers contained in the bundle of fibers fed from the fiber-bundle supply mechanism receive effective combing action of the combing roller in the combing section of the fiber carrying passage.
