    • A label and RFID tag issuing apparatus comprises a recording apparatus that records information on a production label and an RFID tag reader/writer that writes and reads part of the recorded information to/from an RFID tag. This label and RFID tag issuing apparatus writes a production number to the RFID tag attached to the container if a container for containing an article or articles carrying the production label and RFID tag is judged to be on the container loading plate. The apparatus, subsequently confirming presence of the container on the container loading plate, records on the production label production information including bar-code data corresponding to the production number that has been written to the RFID. Thus, information recorded on the production label and information stored in the RFID tag are tied, and thereby accidental affixing of a wrong production label onto the container can be prevented.

    • A mount sheet having a plurality of radio tags attached at an interval to it is run over a radio communicating section. The radio communicating section has a metal member providing a conveying surface with a slit formed therein. A dielectric member is arranged on a lower surface of the metal member with a projecting section inserted into the slit and, by doing so, the top surface of the projecting section is set flush with the top surface of the metal member. An antenna of the radio communicating section is located beneath the projecting section of the dielectric member and this antenna is held within the metal case. When any radio tag being an object of a radio communication is located over the slit, the radio communicating section positively makes radio communication with the radio tag through the antenna.

    • A radio communication apparatus sends a signal for assigning a predetermined number of slots to one or more response devices. The response devices individually select one slot, and transmit own specific identification information in that slot. The radio communication apparatus has an all slot number counter and an empty slot number counter. The all slot number counter counts the number of all slots received within a slot counting period. The empty slot number counter counts empty slots among those received within the slot counting period. The radio communication apparatus calculates an estimated number of unread response devices whose identification information is not yet read, from the counted values of each counter and the number of slots at the present time. And, based on the estimated number of unread response devices, the radio communication apparatus determines the number of slots to be assigned next.

    • There is provided an article management system having a plurality of article management apparatus that are arranged at the respective process stage position in a production line and read information by RF tag readers from an article RF tag affixed to each of articles contained in a case and a case RF tag attached to each of the cases. A server connected to the respective article management apparatus for managing ID information on the articles, quantity of the articles, current process stage positions for each of the cases and other items. With this system, production management for the articles contained in the cases can be performed in a short time without being interrupted, even if some of the tags have become damaged and reading from the tags is impaired.
