    • A cryopump is provided with a detecting means for detecting an operation parameter at an elapsed operation time in a current operation cycle of the cryopump, a storing means for storing a value of another operation parameter in a past operation cycle of the cryopump as a management parameter, an arithmetic controlling means for calculating a succeeding rotational speed of the expander motor based on the current operational parameter and the management parameter stored in the storing means and outputting the same as a driving instruction signal, with which the succeeding rotational speed of the expander motor is controlled so as to maintain a temperature of a cryopanel or a pressure in a vacuum chamber to which the cryopump is attached at a predetermined value by using the operation parameter at the elapsed operation time in the current operation cycle of the cryopump detected by the detecting means and the operation parameter at the corresponding elapsed operation time in the past operation cycle of the cryopump stored in the storing means as the management parameter, and an expander motor driving means for driving the expander motor according to the driving instruction signal output from the arithmetic controlling means, whereby the cryopump may be operated stably even if a temporal load change has occurred.

    • In an image display apparatus comprising a fluorescent layer formed on the inner surface of a vacuum container, an electron emission source, and a supporting member sandwiched between the fluorescent layer and the electron emission source so that the fluorescent layer and the electron emission source are kept in parallel, a displacement preventing system is provided to prevent displacement of the electron beams emitted from the electron sources caused by the charging of the supporting member. More specifically, the supporting member may be composed of an insulating portion contacting with the electron emission source and a conducting portion contacting with the fluorescent layer. An electrode portion may be provided between the insulating portion and the conductive portion. Electron sources are arranged on the insulating substrate so that the electron beams emitted from the electron sources will be landed on the fluorescent layer with an equal pitch. The vacuum container provided with the supporting members can resist the atmospheric pressure and the supporting members will not affect adversely the images, and therefore good images can be obtained.

    • Between an IC card (1) and a electronic ticket server (2), upon purchasing an electronic ticket a public key cryptosystem is employed for a mutual authentication to keep a strict security, and a shared secret between the electronic ticket and a ticket collecting machine is sent on a secure channel as well as the electronic ticket. Upon usage of the electronic ticket, the IC card (1) and the ticket collecting machine (6) mutually judge whether they carry out the mutual authentication by using a public key cryptosystem or a symmetric key cryptosystem. When they determine to use the symmetric key cryptosystem, they carry out the mutual authentication by using the shared secret exchanged beforehand. When they determine to use the public key cryptosystem, they carry out the mutual authentication by using the same method as that used upon purchasing the electronic ticket. This method of mutual authentication can dynamically switch cryptosystems for cryptographic communication between the IC cards or between the IC card and a tamper resistant device having an equivalent function to an IC card installed in related servers or the ticket collecting machine, based on their judgment of the types of bearers, the required degree of security and the required processing speed.
