摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that although requirements of transmission capacity increase among subscribers are increased year by year but a burst signal having considerable variations in intensity disturbs bit rate improvement in a receiver. SOLUTION: A light intensity controller includes: an optical signal branching means for branching a part of an inputted optical signal; a light intensity monitor for monitoring intensity of the optical signal branched by the optical signal branching means; a variable optical attenuator which attenuates the optical signal and is capable of varying the amount of attenuation in accordance with a driving signal; an optical signal delay means installed between the optical signal branching means and the variable optical attenuator; and a control means for driving the variable optical attenuator in such a way that the intensity of an output signal is provided in accordance with the intensity monitored by the light intensity monitor. By performing timing control for driving the variable optical attenuator through digital processing, suitable intensity control can also be performed even when a burst optical signal is inputted.
