    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste liquid treatment method and apparatus using iron-oxidizing bacteria which can detect the contamination of an activity inhibitor at an early stage even in a case that the activity inhibitor is temporarily mixed to suppress a deterioration of divalent iron ion-oxidizing capacity by the iron-oxidizing bacteria and return the capacity at early stage.
      SOLUTION: In the waste liquid treatment method, acidic waste liquid containing divalent iron ions is supplied into a reaction tank in which iron-oxidizing bacteria exist, to oxidize the divalent iron ions to trivalent iron ions by the iron-oxidizing bacteria, the pH of the waste liquid is adjusted to 3 or more and 5 or less to generate iron (III) hydroxide particles in it, and the waste liquid discharged from the reaction tank is settled and separated to recover the iron (III) hydroxide particles. The oxidation-reduction potential and pH of the waste liquid in the reaction tank are continuously measured. By using a linear correlation between oxidation-reduction potential and pH, a corrected value of the oxidation-reduction potential is calculated from the two measured values, and when the corrected value is equal to or less than a predetermined value, a supply of the waste liquid containing divalent iron ions is stopped or reduced.

Further, a waste liquid containing a hexavalant chromium ion is subjected to reduction treatment by slurry educed in the first reactor and a chromium concentration in the particle is increased to be recovered.
