    • PURPOSE:To prevent breakage of abrasion of a corner section by forming, in a circular arc or a similar curve, portions linked from a cutting edge section to a chisel section of a rotary tool formed by lamination-sintering, with a sintered- hard alloy, a plate-like extremely-hard sintered material containing highly-dense phase boron nitride, etc. CONSTITUTION:A three-layer laminated sintering material with a plate-like extremely-hard sintering material 1 stuck between two plate-like extremely-hard alloys 2, 2' is fitted to the tip of a rotary tool 9 with silver solder 6, 7, part of two sheets of plate-like extremely-hard alloys 2, 2' is removed so as to be symmetrical against the center axis of the rotary tool 9, and part of the plate-like extremely-hard sintering material 1 is exposed to form cutting edge sections 3, 3' and a rake face 10 of the rotary tool 9, then portions where the cutting edge sections 3, 3' and a chisel section 8 are intersected together are formed in a circular or similar shape. Portions 4a, 4a' where the cutting edge sections 3, 3' are linked in a smooth curve near a circular arc. In there is any corner section, its portion generates breakage and becomes a starting point of abrasion.

    • PURPOSE: To enable adequate cutting under heavy load, by conjoining to the tip of a rotary tool a three-layer sintered element made by bonding a high-hardnesses sintered plate between two cermet plates.
      CONSTITUTION: A sintered piece 1 containing boron nitride at high density is sintered between two cermet plates 8, 9 so that they are conjoined together. When the three-layer sintered element is utilized as the tip of a drill, the sintered element is brazed with silver solder in the groove of the cutting part of the drill so that the cermets 8, 9 are located symmetrically to each other with regard to the rotation. The cermets 8, 9 of the sintered element tip are partly removed to provide rake faces on the drill. According to this constitution, load is reduced by half in comparison with a conventional tool with two tips separately brazed. For that reason, cutting under heavy load is enabled.
