SOLUTION: The polymer support insulator 7 for a tunnel includes a plastic core material 30 arranged in the approximately vertical direction V, an upper metal fitting 28 inserting an upper end 35 of the core material 30 and having an upper crimping section 55 for crimping the inserting section of the upper end 35, and a lower metal fitting 29 inserting a lower end 36 of the core material 30 and having a lower crimping section 56 for crimping the inserting section of the lower end 36. Total length U1+W1 of the length U1 of the upper crimping section 55 and the length W1 of the lower crimping section 56 is set up to be 15-25% against 100% of the full length L3 of the core material 30 in the longitudinal direction A of the core material 30.
