    • To provide a media processing device capable of preventing jams and facilitating the positioning of a magnetic head, and to provide a magnetic head which can be applied to the above device and prevent degradation of reading accuracy of the magnetic information.
      In a media processing device 1 comprising a transport passage 14 in which information recording media (such as a check 17) are transported, a frame 15 constituting the transport passage 14, and a magnetic head 11 for magnetizing a magnetic substance (such as MICR characters) printed on the surface of the information recording media (such as a check17), the magnetic head 11 is embedded in the frame 15 while part of the frame 15 is interposed between the magnetic head 11 and the transport passage.
      Also, the magnetic head 11 that can be applied to the media processing device 1 has a magnet magnetized to the different poles along the transport direction in which the information recording media (such as a check 17) are transported, a yoke attached to a face of the outside periphery of the magnet opposed to the transport passage 14 in which the information recording media (such as a check 17) are transported, and a slit created in the yoke such that the longitudinal direction thereof is perpendicular to the transport direction; at least one of the end portions of the slit is closed and the yoke is extended to be longer than the magnet in the transport direction.
