摘要： A system and method to reduce the time to transfer files from one computer to another over a communications network, such as the Internet, by avoiding the synchronous timing limitations of current transfer methods. A file that is intended to be transferred from a transmitting computer to a receiving computer is partitioned into multiple synchronous block portions of the existing file, prior to transfer. Each block subportion of original file is compressed and queued for transmission to a target receiving computer. The compressed blocks are kept in a cue, encrypted, and transmitted asynchronously to a target receiving computer over a selected communications network. Upon receipt at the receiving computer of any of the transmitted blocks, blocks are decrypted, decompressed, and asynchronously reconstructed into the original file. Since the transmission of blocks to the receiving computer occurs asynchronously, as well as the transmission preparation steps, overall transmission times are improved.

摘要： A hinge mechanism includes a first hinge element, a second hinge element, and a locking element. The first and second hinge elements each include a plate portion and a plurality of substantially parallel fingers spaced from one another. The pluralities of substantially parallel fingers interlock with one another along a pivot axis such that the first and second hinge elements are rotatable relative to one another about the pivot axis between an extended position and a folded position. The locking element extends substantially parallel to the pivot axis and may be configured to releasably engage a receiving portion in one of the pluralities of substantially parallel fingers when the first and second hinge elements are in the extended position to lock the first and second hinge elements relative to one another. A collapsible ascension ski having such a hinge mechanism as well as related methods and kits are also disclosed.

摘要： A communication system includes a switching network and a wireless network. The switching network includes a first gateway for receiving a communication from a caller, a second gateway for establishing an external connection through which the communication can be routed, and a command center that allows the first and second gateways to make an internal connection. The wireless network includes a visited mobile switch center and a home location register. The visited mobile switch center generates routing information, receives the communication from the external connection of the switching network, and routes the communication to a wireless network subscriber. The home location register locates the visited mobile switch center, and passes the routing information from the visited mobile switch center to the command center of the switching network. The command center causes the external connection to be established based on the routing information.
