    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser marking method by which preset fine characters or patterns can be formed clearly with high fastness by low energy laser beam. SOLUTION: A coloring material containing layer 27 containing the coloring material in a dispersed state is formed on the surface 6 of a substrate W comprising a thermoplastic material, and a laser beam having a condensed spot size of 2 μm to 3 μm is radiated to the coloring material containing layer. The laser beam oscillated by a laser radiation device having a comparatively lower output such as semiconductor laser is condensed into a fine spot size of 2 μm to 3 μm to enhance the energy density of the light condensed spot on a radiation surface to soften or sublime the coloring material in the coloring material containing layer 27 to transfer the coloring material on the surface of the substrate W. The portion of the coloring material containing layer 27 irradiated with the laser beam is heated by the energy of the irradiated laser beam, and then the surface of the substrate W is heated, softened and blended by the heat and stuck with the coloring material transferred.
