    • An obstacle alert device notifies a driver of the presence of an obstacle approaching a vehicle without making it difficult to see a state of the periphery of the vehicle. The apparatus includes: a captured image obtainment unit that obtains a captured image of a scene of the periphery of the vehicle; a target captured image generation unit that generates a target captured image based on the captured image; an object presence determination unit that determines whether or not an object is present in an outside region that is on an outer side of the target captured image; a movement direction determination unit that determines a movement direction of the object in the outside region; and a notification image output unit that, in the case where the movement direction determination unit has determined that the object in the outside region is moving toward the center of the target captured image, sequentially displays a plurality of indicators, that appear for a set amount of time and then disappear, in different locations of the target captured image, starting with the side having the outside region in which the object is present and moving toward the center of the target captured image, and repeats this display while displaying the plurality of indicators in positions where the indicators partially overlap with each other, with the indicator displayed later being displayed over the indicator displayed immediately previous thereto at the areas where the indicators overlap.

    • With employment of a computer, table format data is arranged to produce a desirable form in accordance with the following sequential operation. The designated data table is displayed on a relational table display window, and a base record is set with respect to the relational table on this window. An arranging display window is produced, and an allocation and an initialization of a memory region are performed. A basic portion of the form is created by arranging the data from the relational data to the arranging display window. Furthermore, repeating data among the arranged data is designated, and then a repeating parameter for designating the sort of repeating process and also the display position during the repeating representation are inputted, and thereafter the repeating process is applied to the designated data based upon these parameter and display position, whereby a form is created. Furthermore, based upon the form arranging data table, the relational format table data containing such a specific column data as a total and an average is displayed on a display screen. A designation is made of the column whose layout is changed on the screen, the table data corresponding to the designated column is discriminated, and then the data whose layout should be updated is stored into the specific data arranging data table so as to be separately managed.

    • A method and apparatus is provided for retrieving time-series information so as to permit a user to readily retrieve non-numeric data such as character sequence information. The system provides for a prediction system to take into consideration such non-numeric data in association with retrieval result. In the system, a transition graph of the time-series data is displayed, a prediction result is determined based on determined time-series information, and a representation as to validity of a prediction to actual data is displayed on the graph. When a user enters a desired time point, news and event occurrences at that time point are retrieved from an event database and they are displayed in a designated area. Thus, the non-numeric information, such as news, which has occurred at a prediction miss point can be reflected to a prediction rule during a subsequent prediction.
