摘要： A pressure-sensitive recording material of the type which is prepared by using an electron donating dye-precursor that produces a color when the dye-precursor is brought into contact with an electron accepting color developer. The pressure-sensitive recording material is characterized in that the solvent for said dye-precursor comprises an alkylated fraction which is prepared by alkylating a by-product fraction with at least one alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, the by-product fraction containing the components within the boiling range of 255.degree. to 300.degree. C. on the atmospheric pressure basis and being obtained in the process for producing ethylbenzene or ethyltoluene from ethylene and benzene or toluene. The pressure-sensitive recording material of the invention has scarcely offensive odor and can develop a dense color with a higher color developing rate.

The compounding oil of the invention comprises a fraction mainly containing triaryldialkanes and having boiling points in the range of 350.degree. to 450.degree. C. of the electrical insulating oil composition is not more than 45% by weight and the proportion of the total quantity of solid phase is calculated according to the following general equation of solid-liquid equilibrium: ##EQU1## wherein X.sub.i is the equilibrium mole fraction of a component i in the liquid phase of the composition, .DELTA.H.sub.i.sup.f is the heat of fusion (cal.mol.sup.-1), T.sub.i.sup.f is the melting point (K), T is the temperature (K), and R is the gas constant (cal.mol.sup.-1.K.sup.-1).Electrical capacitors prepared with these electrical insulating oil compositions provide excellent operation at temperatures as low as -40.degree. C., preferably as low as -50.degree. C.
