    • The invention relates to a method for establishing a connection between a mobile station and a communication network in which a connection between the mobile station and the network is established through an access point, after selection of the communication parameters. The aim of the invention is to describe a method with which an automatic recognition of currently available connection possibilities to various communication networks of various standards, a storage and analysis of the found parameters for the standards and the establishment and maintenance of a connection with one of the found connection possibilites can be achieved. Said aim is achieved, whereby an automatic recognition of available connection possibilites to various networks in differing standards and frequency bands is carried out. After selection of a first standard, a check of the connection possibilites within said standard is carried out, then a second standard is selected, a check of the connection possibilites therein is also carried out and a storage of the parameters characterising the standard with which a connection possibility is found is carried out and a connection established to an access point with which communication occurs using a standard after programme controlled or manual selection of selection criteria.
