    • PURPOSE:To prevent any damage such as chipping and cracking from occurring in an angular part of a peripheral edge of a grinding wheel tip face by forming at least either side of both inner and outer circumferential surfaces of the grinding wheel into a tapered surface being tilted to a cylindrical surface in parallel with a shaft center so as to cause radial wall thickness to become smaller in proportion as going toward the grinding wheel tip face. CONSTITUTION:In such a state that a tip end face 18 of a cylindrical grinding wheel is pressed to an outer circumferential surface of a roll, sliding friction is produced in an interval between this roll outer circumferential surface and the grinding wheel, and the roll outer circumferential surface is ground with on-line. At this time, an outer circumferential surface 16 of a stone body 12 is formed into a tapered surface being tilted at an angle alpha (25-40 deg.) to a cylindrical surface in parallel with a shaft center so as to cause radial wall thickness of the stone body 12 to become smaller in proportion as going toward the tip end face 18 being pressed to the roll. In addition, this tip end face 18 is formed into a tapered surface being tilted at an angle theta (0.5-1 deg.) from a plane at a right angle with the shaft center in proportion as going toward the outer circumferential side. In consequence, impact resistance in an angular part 28 of the peripheral edge of this tip end face 18 is well enhanced.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the grinding performance and impact resistance of a grinding wheel by installing a second grinding wheel tight to at least either side of both inner and outer circumferences of a cylindrical first grinding wheel as one body, while letting a binder of the second grinding wheel differ from that of the first one, and making an elastic modulus of the second grinding wheel lower than that of the first one. CONSTITUTION:In such a state that both tip end faces 18, 22 of a cylindrical grinding wheel are pressed to an outer circumferential surface of a roll, sliding friction is produced in an interval between this roll outer circumferential surface and the stone, and the roll outer circumferential surface is ground with on-line. At this time, the grinding wheel consists of a cylindrical inner circumferential side stone 12 and an outer circumferential side stone 14 solidly installed tight to the outer circumferential side of this inner side stone 12, and thereby a superior grinding action is secured by the inner side stone 12 high in an elastic modulus. In addition, impact resistance is enhanced by the outer side stone 14, making its binder differ from that of the inner side stone 12 and lower in its elastic modulus, so that any damage such as chipping and cracking or the like is prevented from occurring in an angular part of each peripheral edge of these tip end faces 18, 22 irrespective of vibration in the roll and a collision between irregularities existing on this roll outer circumferential surface and the grinding wheel.

    • PURPOSE:To regulate a relative movement in the shaft center direction between two grinding wheels as well as to surely prevent an outer circumferential side stone from slipping off to the tip end side in the shaft center direction by forming a mating face between these inner and outer circumferential side stones into an uneven or tapered form being engaged with each other. CONSTITUTION:In such a state that a tip end face 18 of a cylindrical grindstone is pressed to an outer circumferential surface of a roll, sliding friction is produced in an interval between this roll outer circumferential surface and the stone, and the roll outer circumferential surface is ground by this tip end face with on-line. At this time, this grindstone consists of a cylindrical inner circumferential side stone 12 and an outer circumferential stone 14 solidly attached tight in a state of being coherent to the outer circumferential side of this inner side stone 12. A ring projection 20 being engaged with a ring groove 16 formed on an outer circumferential surface of this inner side stone 12 is formed on an inner circumferential surface of the outer side stone 14,and a relative movement in the shaft center direction between these inner and outer side stones 12 and 14 is regulated by engagement between this ring grove 16 and a ring projection 20. In consequence, the outer side stone 14 is not separated from the inner side stone 12, and it is in no case slipped off to the tip side in the shaft center direction.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the loading of a surface polishing grindstone and its polishing noise resulting from the loading to perform steady polishing works over a long term by mixing special abrasive grains on which surface treatment has been carried out into ordinary abrasive grains and letting the above treated abrasive grains fall off properly during polishing work. CONSTITUTION:Treated abrasive grains on which surface treatment has been carried out with comparatively separative resin such as silicon or fluorine resin are mixed into ordinary abrasive grains at the rate of 2-8 to 100 ordinary abrasive grains by weight, and bound to them by binder. When polishing work is carried out by means of surface polishing grindstones 10, 12 produced in the above method, the treated abrasive grains fall off comparatively early and properly from the polishing surface of the surface polishing grindstone. Thus the loading on the surface of the polishing grindstone is prevented, and therefore no polishing noise occurs.
