摘要： Systems and methods for applying powder coating materials in electrostatic spray systems are provided. A gravity feed of recovered powder coating from the recovery system (60) to the feed system (50) is disclosed. In addition, a powder feed system (50) is disclosed wherein a powder suction lance assembly (80) has only two operable positions, a first for feeding powder from a fluidized hopper (52) and also corresponding to a purge position for a purge manifold, and a second retracted position for powder color changes and servicing. Also, a pump assembly block (112) in physical communication with an air line attachment plate (114), a suction tube plate (116), and a hose manifold plate (118) is disclosed. Method for applying a first powder color and a second powder color in a powder feed center are also provided.

摘要： A material supply (22) for a material application system (10) such as a powder coating application system includes a feed hopper in the form of a duct (700). The duct (700) is connectable to negative pressure during a color change process and is disconnected from the negative pressure during a spray application process. The negative pressure can be provided from a powder overspray recovery system such as an after filter blower. Dampers are provided to control air flow through the hopper duct (700) and to allow the duct (700) to be at ambient pressure during a supply mode of operation. The hopper duct (700) also includes a suction interface for pumps (402), in the form of a siphon ring (706), as well as a fluidizing function. A removable sieve is provided with an optional vibration feature (725). Powder may be added to the duct (700) via an access door (704) or transfer pumps (400, 410) for new powder and/or reclaimed powder overspray.

A plurality of attachment members removably attach the air line attachment plate, a suction tube plate, and the hose manifold plate to the pump assembl y block. Method for applying a first powder color and a second powder color in a powder feed center are also provided. The one method includes, among other things, the step of replacing a first pump assembly and with a second pump assembly that is in fluid communication with the one or more spray devices. The second pump assembly may be a new, previously cleaned, or color dedicate d pump assembly. So configured, the present invention reduces the amount of ti me required fora powder color change in an electrostatic spray system and reduces color cross-contamination effects involved when changing between powder colors. Powder contacting surfaces are reduced, as well.
