摘要： A method of performing an authentication in a communications network comprises establishing a secure first path for transmitting and receiving data over the communications network, establishing a second path, performing authentication of a network authentication module on the second path and, upon successful authentication of the authentication module, generating secret information in a secure domain and using the secret information to authenticate the network authentication module, a client and a server involved in communication over the first path. The second path allows a network authentication module authentication procedure not supported on the first path.
