摘要： An apparatus, system, method and computer program product for providing broadcast services. A terminal controller is configured to use data forming the whole of or part of an electronic service guide, and store information concerning the accessibility of services. That information is then used to generate a list of selectable services available to the user. A user interface presents at least part of the list in a selectable manner. Service accessibility display options are included either as a setting in the terminal or as a user input. Subscribed services are presented to the user differently than non-subscribed services. If a non-subscribed service is selected, payment data is retrieved from the terminal and a suitable subscription is purchased without significant user involvement. The purchase of a subscription results in the terminal receiving subscription data, which is then stored for future use.

摘要： A user of a combined mobile telephone and IPDC receiver (10) accesses a WAP portal (16) through the Internet (82) and/or a mobile telephone network (81). The WAP portal (16) provides a service menu, comprising a number of links to service menus further down in the hierarchy or to IPDC services. The WAP portal (16) is provided with information relating to IPDC services by an IPDC operator (80). This information includes at least the name of the service, the IP address and the port number relating to each service. The information may additionally include a Network Information Table, IP/MAC Notification Table and Program Mapping Table, although this information may be provided to the mobile terminal instead by broadcast from a DVB transmitter (13). When a user of the mobile terminal (10) selects an item on the service menu presented by the WAP portal (16) which relate to IPDC service, the WAP portal pushes information relating to that service to the mobile terminal (10), allowing the mobile terminal to open an appropriate IP channel and consequently receive and consume the IPDC service.

摘要： Plural service providers each provide services to one or more multicast service systems, which forward service sets formed by bundling received services to a respective multicast operator (Figure 1). The service sets are then multicast in IP datacasting bursts, and can be received by a mobile terminal (20). Each service comprises one or more service components, which have different media formats, e.g. audio, video, game, software, chat, offline web page, etc. The service components comprise content data and service identification data. A service set schedule giving timing information relating to the transmission of the IP datacasting burst and the transmission frequency is created. An IP burst begins with ESG data. The service set schedule may be part of the ESG data or it may be transmitted separately. The mobile terminal (20) can use the timing information to tune to the appropriate channel at the appropriate time to receive and then to decode service identification data relating to a required service, and subsequently obtain required service components thereof. The service components are stored in portions (28-30) of the memory. Service selection is enabled by a user interface (23).

In this way, for each service an icon is displayed alongside which indicates the service type e.g. film, current affairs etc. without the icon data being transmitted over-the-air. This allows the user to determine quickly and accurately what kind of service type the service relates to. A user may then select, by way of an input 24, a service displayed on the display. The mobile device then initiates at step 26 consumption of the content of the service which relates to the ESG data. Other icons instead relate to individual services or service providers, and such icons may be prioritised over service type icons.
