摘要： Several mobile station identifiers are allocated to one mobile station, one for each of a plurality of possible signalling channel parameters. When receiving the signalling channels, the mobile station searches for all identifiers allocated for it in the received signalling channels. When it finds one that matches, it may for instance check a mapping table (agreed at the connection setup between mobile station and the network by RRC signalling) to determine what this identifier means. The signalling channel parameters used in the transmission may be implicitly or explicitly indicated by the identifier. The mobile station (User Equipment) should monitor the signalling channels in the normal way. Instead of looking for only one identifier, however, the mobile station should monitor several identifiers belonging to it.

摘要： A new protocol data unit is used in communications in a radio access network. When a user equipment requests a radio resource controller connection, the UE includes its identity in the request message. In establishing the connection to UE, a serving radio network controller allocates a logical channel to the UE for communications and identifies the logical channel in the header of the protocol data unit so as to allow a receiver of the PDU to know the UE identity in an out-of-band signaling fashion, depending upon a state of the transmitter of the PDU. When the transmitter changes its state, the receiver can change state accordingly. The new PDU structure allows continuous reception of the HS- DSCH downlink channel during state transition form CELL_FACH or CELL_PCH or URA_PCH to CELL_DCH and vice versa. This new PDU structure also allows continuous HS DSCH retransmissions.

摘要： To handover a mobile terminal from a serving base station BTS to a target BTS, a radio network controller RNC: 1) informs the mobile terminal of the pending handover so it can preconfigure to communicate with the target BTS; 2) indicates to the serving BTS which will be the last data packet prior to handover; and 3) informs the target BTS of the pending handover and the mobile terminal's identity. The serving BTS indicates which is the last data packet and sends it to the mobile terminal. Upon receiving an acknowledgement, the serving BTS informs the RNC. The BTS automatically switches to the target BTS after receiving the last data packet from the serving BTS, informs the target BTS that it is ready to receive data from it by a handover confirmation message, and the target 1) schedules the mobile terminal to receive data; and 2) informs the RNC that the mobile terminal is handed over.
