摘要： For the notification of a receiving device about a forthcoming transmission session, an identifier of one of various possible types of identifiers in a transmission session is mapped to a transmission session identifier field. This field is used for notifying the receiving device. Further, a repetition value is added to the transmission session identifier field, which indicates whether the forthcoming transmission session is new or not. Further, the receiving device may release context data stored for a particular transmission session identifier, if an acquisition of data in transmission sessions identified by the transmission session identifier can be terminated.

The present invention provides a mechanism for signaling the information of layered track groups and the information of MDC track groups, as well as a mechanism for signaling track relationship information in an efficient way. In local playback or unicast streaming applications, to select an independently decodable track for a certain media type, the information of alternate track groups is first found via the track relation box, and one track is selected from an alternate track group for the media type. If stream switching is desired, the switching track group information is found via the track relation box. In multicast applications with scalable or MDC streams, the tracks in a layered or MDC group are found via the track relation box and selected among all the layered or MDC groups.

A more recent timestamp and/or version number/counter prompts the terminal to tune in to the default notification channel to process the default notification channel event. The signaling can be performed using Program Specific Information/Service Information (PSI/SI), which is non-time-sliced and is received by all terminals. Additionally, the PSI/SI signaling is effectuated by creating descriptors in existing notification/network information tables and/or by creating a dedicated notification signaling table.
