摘要： Provided is a multiplexer/demultiplexer functioning as a very small AWG-type optical filter in order to create a small-sized, inexpensive transmission/reception module needed to realize a transceiver for high-speed Ethernet. In the present invention, an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer is provided with the following: at least one input waveguide having an input section at one end; a first slab waveguide, one end of which is connected to the other end of the input waveguide; an array waveguide group that has a plurality of waveguides and one end of which is connected to the other end of the first slab waveguide; a second slab waveguide, one end of which is connected to the other ends of the array waveguide group; and at least one output waveguide, one end of which is connected to the other end of the second slab waveguide and which has an output section at the other end. The optical multiplexer/demultiplexer is characterized in that each waveguide of the array waveguide group has a first curved section at which the direction of extension of the waveguide changes by 180° or more, and a second curved section at which the direction of extension of the waveguide changes by 180° or more in a direction opposite that of the first curved section.

摘要： An optical functional circuit enabled to have excellent circuit characteristics of a low transmission loss and small crosstalk by applying a holographic wave transmission medium. The optical functional circuit has a plurality of circuit elements formed on a substrate and is provided with a wave transmission medium for changing the optical path of a leakage light, which is not emitted from a predetermined output port of the circuit element s, so that the leakage light may not be coupled to another circuit element. Thi s wave transmission medium is configured of an optical waveguide, which is composed of a cladding layer formed on the substrate and a core buried in th e cladding layer, and the optical waveguide is partially formed to have a refractive index distribution for multiple scatterings.
