摘要： PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain through a simplified process a filamentous composite material by reinforcing a thermosetting resin with high-strength fibers. CONSTITUTION:Tension is applied on a plurality of high-strength fiber bundles, which are then individually impregnated 2 with a resin; the volatiles in the resin are expelled by heating and drying 3 each of the bundles, which are then gathered 4 into a composite elemental strand 8. In this case, the bundle gathering position is fixed relatively to the cross-sectional plane for the elemental strand and the bundles are arranged in parallel with the axis of the elemental strand followed by covering the elemental strand through knitting/braiding, thus obtaining the objective filamentous composite material. For the composite material, either directly or after twisted, the resin impregnated above is cured, thus obtaining the other objective single or twisted filamentous composite material 14.

SOLUTION: In a tapered hollow shaft made of a fiber reinforced composite material constituted of reinforcing fibers with the modulus of elasticity of 200-1000GPa, a reinforcing layer 4 using carbon fibers with the modulus of elasticity of 5-150GPa is arranged to the fine diameter part of the shaft. This tapered shaft is usually constituted of at least two layers, that is, an oblique layer 2 and a straight layer 3. As a prepreg used in the oblique layer, a unidirectional prepreg is pref. As the carbon fiber prepreg used in the reinforcing layer 4, a unidirectional prepreg is also pref. As the matrix resin used in the carbon fiber prepreg used in the reinforcing layer 4, an epoxy resin is pref.

摘要： PURPOSE:To make it possible to stably and efficiently produce a high quality thin prepreg by a method wherein a pressure applied to the prepreg between nip rolls and a tension of carbon fiber bundle at the entrance of the nip rolls are set within specified ranges and at the same time the temperatures of the nip rolls at impregnation is controlled so as to hold the viscosity of matrix resin within a specified range. CONSTITUTION:The pressure condition of nip rolls depends on the number of sheets of coated paper used. When a paralleled carbon fiber prepreg is impregnated onto one sheet of coated paper, the preferable pressure condition is 5-10 kg per 1000 carbon fiber filaments. When the paralleled carbon fiber prepreg is impregnated between two sheets of coated paper, the preferable pressure condition is 1-10 kg per 1000 carbon fiber filaments. The necessary control of the tension of each carbon fiber bundle for manufacturing a thin prepreg is to develop 40-100 g per 1000 carbon fiber filaments at the entrance of the nip rolls. On the other hand, due to the property of matrix resin, the temperatures of the nip rolls must be selected so as to realize the viscosity of the matrix resin at impregnation within the range of 30-100 poises or the preferable range of 40-60 poises.

An epoxy resin-curing agent is then blended with a polyepoxy compound containing the resultant epoxy prepolymer, thus obtaining the objective composition.
