CONSTITUTION:In a rolling mill having a cross head to hold working rolls and chocks of reinforcing rolls in the housing window of the rolling mill, a calculating function to predict a rolling reaction force of a sheet to be rolled, a function to calculate a suitable initial interval of the cross head corresponding to this predicted rolling reaction force, and a mechanism to regulate the initial interval of the cross head to hold the chocks are provided. Further, the hysteresis of an automatic sheet pressure controlling device (AGC) is always made small by setting into a suitable initial interval of the cross head corresponding to this predicted reaction force, the sheet thickness can be highly precisely controlled. Then, the hysteresis ton number is reduced, the error of the rolling reaction force detected value is made small, and the quality competitive power is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate classifying work and to improve the unit consumption of fuel by measuring temp. of a cast slab with a temp. detector fitted to a crane at the crane conveying process before laying on a charging table in a heating furnace. CONSTITUTION:The temp. of the cast slab 2 measured with the temp. detector 7 by command of a crane controller 11, is displaced into the prescribed electric signal through a converter 12 and inputted to a computer 13. In the computer 13, based on comparison information from a computer 13a for control, the classification of the measured temp. of steel slabs 2 is executed. Each classified steel slab 2 is laid on carrying table 4 and as it is already decided that this steel slab is charged to any heating furnaces 10a, 10b and 10c, time loss 1 needed to the classification, etc., is eliminated and charging work is smoothly executed, and as the suitable heating furnace to raise the temp. after that in accordance with the temp. of each steel slab 2, is selected, the heating is effectively executed.

The movable unit 20 moves reciprocally between the assembled position and the retracted position with cylinder-type actuators 24 as a drive mechanism 40. In the retracted position, the movable unit 20 lies atop bead grinding equipment 50, located on the back side (the downstream side of the line) of the stationary unit 10, with the front face of the movable part facing upward.
